There are collections you create, and then there are collections that create you. New Beginnings is the latter.
This collection holds a very special place in my heart — it is, quite simply, the most personal work I have ever shared. For the first time, I didn't start with a subject or a scene. I started with a feeling. Each piece in this collection is an honest, unfiltered expression of emotion, painted directly from within.
And to mark this new chapter, I chose a new medium to match: oil paint. I had never worked in oils before, and there was something beautifully fitting about learning something new while exploring something so deeply personal. Oil paint has a richness and depth that felt right for this work — the way it blends, the way it holds light, the way it allows you to layer meaning slowly, deliberately.
Creating New Beginnings was not always easy. Putting feelings onto a canvas — truly feeling them as you paint — is vulnerable in a way that is hard to describe. But it is also freeing. This collection taught me things about myself as an artist and as a person that I will carry forward into everything I create.
I am so proud of these pieces, and a little nervous to share them. But that feels right too.
